Hey Dripping Springs! Can we just take a second to appreciate this weather? It’s got that classic April showers energy… a little moody… a little magical… and somehow still absolutely perfect for patio season. Everything is green… the air feels softer… and this is exactly the kind of spring weather that makes you want to linger outside a little longer. In my humble opinion… there is no better place on Earth to do that than right here in our backyard!
If you are looking for the best spots to grab a cold drink… soak up the Hill Country charm… and maybe even let the kids burn off some energy between rain clouds… you are in the right place. I’ve lived and worked here for years… and as the realtor who sold more houses than anyone else in the Dripping Springs Independent School District in 2025… I’ve spent a lot of time “researching” these patios for you!
Whether you want a romantic date night… a family afternoon… or just a place to enjoy some iconic BBQ under dangly lights… here is your ultimate guide to the best patios in Dripping Springs for Spring 2026!
The Upscale and Romantic Vibes
Tillie’s at Camp Lucy
If you want to feel like you’ve been whisked away to a luxury resort in another country… you have to head over to Tillie’s. The drive alone is worth it! You’ll wind through the green pastures of Onion Creek and see some of the most beautiful rolling hills our area has to offer.
The patio at Tillie’s overlooks their stunning pool and the architecture is just mind blowing! They’ve repurposed a historic town hall from Vietnam… and the result is a vibe that is purely magical. It’s the perfect spot for a high end brunch or a sunset dinner. If you are looking for a place to celebrate an anniversary or just want to feel fancy for a few hours… this is it!
Family Fun and Games
Route 12 Filling Station
If you have kids… you already know the struggle of trying to enjoy a meal while they are bouncing off the walls. Enter Route 12 Filling Station! This place is a parent’s dream come true. They have a huge outdoor space… plenty of room to spread out… and that splash pad is a major win once the weather warms up.
It’s casual… easy… and exactly the kind of place that feels like Dripping Springs doing what Dripping Springs does best. Good food… kids running around… parents pretending they’re relaxing while actually relaxing a little.
Bell Springs Winery
Bell Springs Winery is still a classic for a reason! It’s tucked away just a bit north of town and offers a relaxed atmosphere with a great playground for the kiddos and picnic tables under the trees. The wine is delicious… and they often have live music on the weekends.
If you want something a little more “historic downtown”… you can also check out their sister location… Sidecar Tasting Room… right off Mercer Street! It has a cozy… prohibition era vibe with a great patio of its own. You can read more about a perfect day on Mercer Street in my guide to downtown.
Iconic Hill Country Classics
The Salt Lick BBQ
You can’t talk about patios in the Hill Country without mentioning The Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood! It is an old faithful for a reason. Even though it’s just a short skip from Dripping Springs… it feels like a total getaway. The smell of that open pit BBQ hits you the second you open your car door!
The patio area is huge… shaded by massive oak trees… and is the ultimate spot for a big group. It’s BYOB… so grab a cooler… your favorite people… and prepare to put a hurt on some brisket! It’s a Texas rite of passage.
Flores Mexican Restaurant
If the weather can’t make up its mind… Flores Mexican Restaurant is one of the best enclosed patio options around. It’s perfect for those rainy spring days… or when you need some AC but the kids still want a little room to move.
That combo is weirdly hard to find… which makes Flores a real MVP in the patio rotation.
Hays City Store
Hays City Store brings that low maintenance Hill Country magic. Live music… dangly lights… good food… and a patio that somehow makes everything feel like a Friday night even if it’s a random Tuesday.
There is just something about those lights out there that does half the work for everybody. Show up… sit down… and the vibe is already handled.
Dripping Springs Distilling
Dripping Springs Distilling is one of those local favorites that nails the laid back patio experience. It’s easygoing… very Dripping Springs… and a great place to settle in with friends when you want drinks and fresh air without a lot of fuss.
Downtown and Cozy
Oakwood Market
Oakwood Market has become one of those patios people mention with a little sparkle in their eye… and yes… the beet salad deserves every bit of its legendary status. If you know… you know.
Pro tip from the locals… if you want a quieter vibe… go while the kids are in school. Same charm… slightly less chaos… still a win.
Thyme and Dough
Thyme and Dough has that dreamy nature aesthetic that makes you want to stay for one more coffee… one more pastry… one more slow little patio moment. Add in the twinkly lights and it turns into one of the coziest spots in town.
Also… do not skip the gooey espresso toffee cookies. Amber was not being dramatic here. They are worth planning your day around.
Nectarine
Nectarine is such a fun pick when you want something that feels a little elevated without trying too hard. The chicken and waffles are a must… and pro tip… split them. Trust me.
They’ve also got “tree nuts” for the kids… which is exactly the kind of funny little patio snack detail that sticks with you. And if you ever need a way to explain why certain food combos work… just remember the local wisdom here… waffles and chicken somehow make sense in the same way spaghetti works. Don’t overthink it… just enjoy it.
Homespun Kitchen & Bar
Located right in the heart of historic Mercer Street… Homespun Kitchen & Bar is a local favorite. Their patio is tucked away and feels like a secret garden. It’s pet friendly… kid friendly… and the food is southern comfort at its best.
I highly recommend the deviled eggs and the fried pickles! It’s the perfect spot to grab a bite after browsing the local shops or visiting the Dripping Springs Community Library. Speaking of the library… I am already excited for the upcoming outdoor space there. That is going to be such a sweet future hang for families and book lovers alike.
Drinks with a View
Wine House
If you are feeling a little bougie… Wine House is the move. The shaded trees make it one of the prettiest patio setups around… and it feels especially perfect during things like the Songwriters Festival when you want to sip something good and pretend you totally planned the perfect afternoon.
Crowded Barrel Whiskey Co.
Crowded Barrel is for the quiet people watchers. The patio is fun without being too loud about it… and the Don Quixote statues give it that quirky little extra something that makes you remember where you are.
Also… bold claim… but the taco truck out there gets a lot of love for a reason. Some folks will tell you it’s the best taco truck in Austin… and honestly… I’m not here to argue.
Pizza Cave
Don’t let the name fool you… Pizza Cave has an incredible patio! They’ve done an amazing job expanding their outdoor space. It’s elevated… giving you a great view of the surrounding hills while you enjoy some of the best crust in town. It’s casual… easy… and always a hit with the family.
Driftwood Estate Winery
If you want a view that will literally take your breath away… get yourself to Driftwood Estate Winery. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Valley… and the sunset views are absolutely unbeatable.
It is one of my favorite spots to take clients who are new to the area. Once they see that view… they usually decide right then and there that they need to find a home here! Speaking of homes… if you’re looking at the market… remember that 2025 was a record breaker for us… and I’d love to help you find your own piece of this view! Check out the 2025 sales data here.
And while we are talking sunset patios… a little bittersweet local note… RIP Dos Olivos as one of our great sunset spots. If you know… you definitely know.

Why We Love This Season
Spring in Dripping Springs is about more than just the food and drinks. It’s about the community coming back outside after the winter… or at least between the rain showers. We are known for our dark skies… and dripping springs stargazing is at its peak this time of year! There is nothing like sitting on a patio after the sun goes down and seeing every single star in the sky. It reminds you why this is such a special place to live.
And speaking of community wins… the Weekly Drip Book Club hitting their $15,000 pledge goal early is such a cool one to celebrate. That is small town magic right there.
If you are out and about… you might even see me at one of these spots! I love staying connected with the community… whether it’s through the Weekly Drip podcast or just bumping into neighbors at the farmer’s market.
Where to Plant Your Roots

- Highpointe: Known for its gated entry and incredible hill country views… very close to the Driftwood wineries!
- Howard Ranch: For those who love that “Old Texas” feel with custom homes and large lots… right near the heart of town.
- Arrowhead Ranch: A newer community that offers a modern suburban feel with beautiful natural surroundings.
